Intruder got into bed with teenager
POLICE are hunting a young man who broke into a teenage girl's bedroom, jumped into her bed and tried to take her clothes off.
A man was still on the run last night after the terrifying home invasion in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police said a 15-year-old Wagaman girl woke about 2am yesterday to find a half- naked man on top of her - in her bed - trying to remove her pyjama bottoms. They said the frightened victim screamed out for help and pushed her attacker off.
He was forced back into the hallway.
The teenager then leaped from her bed and pushed him through the kitchen. The startled intruder is believed to have then turned on his heels and escaped out the laundry door.
The harrowing event left the girl visibly shaken but Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Greg Pusterla praised her brave reactions.
Considering the nature of the situation he said that the "young woman show- ed an enormous amount of bravery and strength".
In the wake of the attack the girl spent hours with detectives assisting them with their investigations.
"I can't even imagine what she's going through," Sen-Sgt Pusterla said.
Police spokeswoman Sarah Gotch said the girl told police that she didn't get a good look at the intruder's face.
"She said he was quite young, though," she said. "She's a really brave young lady. She feared for her life."
Police are urging anyone with who can identify the alleged offender or provide any further information to come forward.
Contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
