Pedophile community constable Allan Ray Gollan jailed for 18 years

AS a community constable, Allan Ray Gollan won many awards for his work and contributions to Aboriginal affairs.
Now Gollan, 62, will spend the next 10 years on the wrong side of prison bars for his cruel sexual abuse of children.
He was sentenced in the District Court yesterday for multiple counts of indecent assault, unlawful sexual intercourse and false imprisonment which occurred between 1975 and 1986.
He pleaded guilty to the charges and was yesterday sentenced to 18 years imprisonment with a non-parole period of 10 years and six months.
In sentencing, Judge Kevin Nicholson said Gollan's behaviour had been horrifying.
He detained one victim with masking tape and made others view pornography before forcing them to perform sexual acts.
"You were in a position of trust, which you breached shamelessly," Judge Nicholson said. "Your sexual offending had a profoundly devastating effect on their personalities and psychological and emotional development."
"You used her as your sexual plaything . . . for your perverted sexual desires."
He further said that Gollan's conduct was that of a manipulative predator who preyed on the youthful naivety and fear of his conquests.
In 2009 police searched Gollan's home and found 76 pornographic images, including 55 of children under the age of 14.
Judge Nicholson gave Gollan credit for showing some signs of rehabilitation.
Outside court, Gollan's step-daughter and victim, Suzanne ******, said she would never forgive Gollan for his crimes and jail was just the "tip of the iceberg for what he deserves".
"I hate him for what he did, and not just what he did to me then, but the ongoing effect," said Ms ******, who gave permission to be identified.
In a victim impact statement another said as a child she missed out on so much. "I can't recall a happy event that didn't have a sinister end for me."
Community constables are Aboriginal community liaison officers employed by SA Police.
