Boy Escapes Kidnap Attempt

POLICE yesterday released a computer generated image of a woman who tried to snatch a 12-year-old boy from an inner western Sydney street.
Marrickville detectives said the woman tried to lure the boy into a car as he walked home from school about 3pm on Thursday.
The boy told police he noticed a vehicle drive past him in Victoria Rd, perform a U-turn and then drive back towards him.
The female driver then allegedly tried to entice him into the car.
The boy ran home and told his father what had happened and the police were called.
The woman was described as being of white/European appearance, 45 to 60 years old and of average build and height.
She had olive skin, short black curly hair, a bent nose, yellowing teeth and wide eyes. She was wearing a black long-sleeved top and driving a metallic dark green four-door sedan.
Police yesterday renewed their advice to parents and guardians to warn their children about stranger danger following a recent spate of kidnap attempts across Sydney.
Four incidents, two in Hunters Hill and two in Mt Pritchard in Sydney's west, involved a man trying to lure schoolchildren into a white van.
Police said all children should be given the following advice:
Do not speak with or accept any lifts from strangers.
Do not accept any gifts from strangers.
Travel in groups rather than individually to and from school
Report any suspicious activity to parents and teachers.
