Woman Gouges, Knees Would-Be Rapist


A WOMAN has thwarted a would-be rapist by gouging him in the eye and kneeing him in the stomach after she was attacked in central Queensland, police said today.
The 20-year-old was standing outside a closed takeaway food shop in Rockhampton about 10.13pm yesterday when a man approached her, asking her to perform a sex act on him, police said.
When the woman refused he punched her in the face and knocked her to the ground.
Police said the man then attempted to remove her clothing but was thwarted when she gouged him in the eye with her fingers and used her knee to hit him in the stomach before escaping.
The man also fled, stealing the woman's handbag.
