A BRISBANE woman is due in court today charged over the murder of her five-year-old daughter. Police found the young girl dead at a house in Eagleby, south of Brisbane, just before 2pm yesterday, following a phone call to emergency services. Ambulance officers arrived at the home but failed to revive the girl. The 41-year-old mother and her two young children, the dead girl and a younger boy, had moved into the house a month ago. Neighbours said there seemed to be no signs of trouble from the family. "She seemed quite a loving mother and the kids never made any sort of noise," neighbour Veronica Turner yesterday told Channel Seven. The woman will appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court. In a separate incident, a 67-year-old man has been charged with murder after the death of a 68-year-old woman on the Sunshine Coast yesterday. Police said they found the dead woman at a Kalowendha Avenue home in Pelican Waters about 3pm. The man is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court tomorrow. AAP (19-9-2005) |
