Search On After Alleged Rape
|
POLICE are looking for a blond-haired man calling
himself 'Aaron' who they allege raped a 19-year-old
woman at a Strand beach early on Wednesday morning.
Security footage shows the couple leaving a Flinders
St nightclub just before 3am.
The pair was seen heading towards The Strand.
Police said the man had a ring through his left nipple
and it was believed he works in Townsville.
Townsville CIB officer-in-charge Detective Senior Sergeant
Joe Kitching said a 19-year-old female was walking along the
footpath on The Strand with a male person she had met a Flinders
St nightclub about 3.15am.
It is alleged that when they walked near the roundabout at the
intersection of Oxley St, at St Patrick's College, the male person
forced her on to the beach and raped her.
A comfit completed by the victim describes the man as an athletic
'surfy type' blond, Caucasian male aged 22 or 23.
"The suspect is 180cm tall of 'well-built build', surfy-style
blond hair and a left nipple ring," Det Snr-Sgt Kitching said.
"He is believed to have been wearing denim jeans and a white
and blue striped polo shirt.
"The victim met the suspect earlier that night at a nightclub
and he introduced himself as Aaron."
Anyone with information can call Townsville police or Crime Stoppers.
