Mother Fends Off Serial Sex Attacker With Cricket Bat

POLICE fear the sexual assault of a woman at her home in Eagleby on Brisbane's southside could be a sign of growing brazenness from a man suspected of dragging two other women into bushland and raping them.
With her two young girls aged two and four sleeping metres away, the woman hit her attacker twice on the head with a cricket bat she managed to grab from behind a sofa. He called her a "psycho" and fled.
Detective Senior-Sergeant Garry Watts from Logan CIB said the attack at the woman's home on December 7 about 10pm was the first time the man had broken into a house.
An 18-year-old was dragged into bushland and raped at Eagleby on October 25 and a 15-year-old walking near a Beenleigh footbridge on November 30 was also dragged into bushland and raped.
Similarities between the attacks, within 1km of each other, led police to yesterday say they were searching for one man.
Sen-Sgt Watts said his victims were all young and blonde, he always carried a knife and the attacks were sexually motivated.
"We suspect that it's one person," Sen-Sgt Watts said.
"Obviously he didn't get that far because I hit him with a cricket bat around the head," the woman said yesterday.
The man is described as in his 20s, 170-180cm tall, of thin build and with brown shoulder-length hair. Contact Logan CIB,or Crime Stoppers.

Raped At Knife Point

A TEENAGER was dragged into bushland and raped at knife point at Eagleby, south of Brisbane on Wednesday night.
The 18-year-old woman was walking home from her boyfriend's house along River Hills Rd when a man approached her with a knife and took her into Bedford Park about 10pm.
A police spokesman said the man then slashed her hand with the knife before sexually assaulting her.
A witnesses who heard the woman scream called police. The man was disturbed by torchlight before he fled the scene.
Locals were stunned to learn of the rape yesterday.
Sharlene Judson lives opposite the park where the rape occurred and said it had always appeared to be a safe area.
"It's just horrible," she said. "I didn't hear a thing and we had the door open."
Another neighbour who wished to remain anonymous said it made him feel sick by what had happened. "I know what I'd do if it was my daughter," he said.
The offender is described as having dark complexion, wearing a bandana, T-shirt with a stripe and knee-length jeans. The victim received stitches to her hand.
