Jeffrey Wayne Davie, 37, Lister Avenue, Woodberry

A convicted pedophile who volunteered for work with the State Emergency Service and Newcastle Knights within months of being released from jail is facing another long prison term after being found guilty of assaulting a young boy at an official SES function.
Jeffrey Wayne Davie, 37, worked as a volunteer cleaning toilets during Knights home games for up to two years despite being on the Child Protection Register prohibiting him from taking a role where he could work near children.
It was only after he was arrested on May 25 last year that Davie’s voluntary work for the Knights and SES ceased.
He was arrested after he was discovered to have followed the boy into a toilet, lured him into a cubicle and sexually assaulted him.
After five days of evidence, a jury yesterday found Davie, of Lister Avenue, Woodberry, guilty of having sexual intercourse with the boy, aggravated indecent assault and committing an aggravated act of indecency.
He was sentenced in 1992 to 12 years jail for child sex offences against 3 boys he was babysitting, aged 4 – 16.
