Coach Jailed For Sex With Teen Girls

A former Adelaide soccer coach and school bus driver has been jailed for at least two years for having sex with teenage girls.
Malcolm Scott Tingey, 30, of Evanston Park, was sentenced in the SA District Court today after being found guilty on two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.
In 1998, Tingey was volunteering as a soccer coach when he had sex with a 13-year-old player.
Five years later, when Tingey was employed as a school bus driver, he had sex with a 16-year-old student.
Judge Peter Herriman said Tingey's conduct was "opportunistic and bordering on predatory".
"In each case, particularly in the first one, you were in a position of trust and you abused that position simply to satisfy your sexual appetites," Judge Herriman said.
He said Tingey failed to realise the seriousness of his crimes and had shown no remorse.
Tingey was sentenced to four years imprisonment, with a non-parole period of two years.
Outside court, one of Tingey's victims said she was happy with the sentence.
"It stops it happening to anyone else's children," she said.
"I've got nephews and nieces, so it stops it happening and makes it a safer place with one less predator (on) the streets."
