ENOUGH IS ENOUGH-ITS TIME FOR CHANGE..The current system is protecting the offender....POLICE NEED GREATER POWERS/more funding TO ARREST/Charge PAEDOPHILES AND get them before the courts. ..!! THE VICTIM IS A WITNESS.. Child sexual abusers "usually" leave no witnesses..other than the victim..more needs to be done for victims of child sexual abuse..the system is letting victims down.. Take historical offences for example..We have a case we are currently dealing with, where a victim was sexually abused for YEARS from the age of at least 8 years old, at the hands of an older relative. The victim bravely reported the case to Police in March 2004..as of November 2005 the offender has still not been charged and the victim is told nothing much at all ..???.The investigation has so far not even made it to the DPP in NSW,whom are one of the many departments we shall be contacting with our concerns regarding this situation..?? It is a disgrace that a child can be sexually abused, let alone for MANY YEARS and the offender escapes justice because there are no so called witnesses-the victim is a witness..???? - the paedophile in this case was fostering children when the victim reported the abuse to Police in 2004..the offender should be charged and at the very least, allow a court/jury to decide..victims of sex crime need to be heard/believed and helped/protected by the system, not alienated by it ..laws need to be changed/introduced to better protect past/current and potential sexual abuse victims..
