Some WA child sex charges dropped
Some historic child sex abuse offences have been dropped against a Perth man, but he still
faces several other charges.
Neville Ross Mader currently faces six charges against two boys including aggravated sexual
assault, aggravated indecent assault and sexual penetration without consent.
Several other charges related to a third boy were dropped in Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Mader is due back in court in April.
Perth man Neville Ross Mader could face more child abuse charges
A Perth man facing child abuse charges against two boys could face further charges from a third alleged victim.
Neville Ross Mader has been charged with 11 offences including aggravated sexual assault,
aggravated indecent assault, sexual penetration of a juvenile male and sexual penetration without consent.
Mader appeared briefly in the Perth Magistrates Court today and had his bail renewed.
The court also heard there could be further charges laid against him from a third complainant.
Mader is due back in court in January.
Sex offender who took boy to yacht jailed
A Perth man has been jailed for plying a vulnerable, homeless teenager with alcohol and sexually abusing him on a yacht.
Neville Ross Mader, 56, was sentenced today to two years' jail after pleading guilty to two counts of procuring
a 15-year-old boy to engage in sexual behaviour and one count of sexual penetration of the boy.
Perth District court judge Peter Martino said Mader took his victim and another teenager to a yacht moored
at Fremantle late in 1992 or early 1993.
The victim was often homeless at the time and had many problems, Judge Martino said.
``He was a vulnerable person,'' he said.
During the night and the next morning, Mader gave the teenager alcohol and performed oral sex on him twice,
while the teenager performed oral sex on him once.
``These are serious offences and have had a serious adverse impact on the life of the victim,'' Judge Martino said.
Given the psychological impact of the assault, he said, it was understandable the victim had waited so long to
come forward with his complaint.
Mader had entered an early guilty plea but had not shown any remorse, the court was told.
Eligible for parole, he could be freed in 12 months
