Ten Guilty In Child Sex Case

Ten guilty in child sex case SAINT- OMER, France: Ten of 17 defendants have been convicted of raping and abusing a group of children in a high-profile pedophilia case that had appalled France for weeks.
Sentences for the defendants, who participated in group rapes of children in the northern town of Outreau between 1995 and 2000, ranged from a suspended 18- month sentence to 20 years in prison.
Seven defendants were acquitted by the court in the Pas- de- Calais region. Central to the case was Myriam Delay, an unemployed mother and main defendant, who admitted to sexually abusing children. Based on her accusations, 13 other defendants were kept behind bars for up to three years. She was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
During testimony on May 19, Delay announced she had wrongly accused others. Then, a few days later, on May 24, Delay retracted her testimony and re- accused those whose names she had cleared, saying the entire group had acted together and "ruined children's lives".
The case, involving allegations of sexual abuse, torture and bestiality, has shattered the lives of the defendants. One committed suicide while behind bars, others lost custody of their children.
Delay, her husband, Thierry and two neighbours, Aurelie and David Delplaque, admitted during questioning to abusing children, officials said. Delay's husband was sentenced to 20 years in prison. The Delplaques were sentenced to four and six years in prison, respectively.

Ring Of Paedophile Parents Cracked

AN international ring of pedophile parents who sexually abused their children and exchanged photographs over the Internet has been cracked with 20 arrests in Europe and the United States.
US Customs officials said 45 children, aged between two and 14 years, had been victims of abuse by parents involved in a pedophile ring called "The Club". The ring e- mailed each other pornographic photos of their children, traded tips in chat rooms, and sometimes met in person to swap children between 1999 and early 2002.
Officials said the 20 arrested members, including one woman, requested photos of specific sexual acts.
No Australian has yet been linked to the ring but officials said they expected more arrests and for the investigation to extend beyond the seven countries already involved.
US Customs Cyber Smuggling Centre deputy director Mike Netherland said investigators were conducting forensic analysis of computers seized in recent raids to detect the extent of the international ring.
"The investigation is really Just getting under way - what we have found is horrific," he said.
The investigation was launched after a tip from a Danish anti-abuse group last November led to the arrest of a Danish man and his wife for posting a pornographic picture of their daughter in an online chat room.
Though the man's face was obscured, police were able to identify him by a corporate logo on his shirt.
The couple's computer contained correspondence which led police to suspects in the US and several other European countries.
Ten people have now been arrested in the US, with another 10 arrested in Denmark, Belgium, Germany, England, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
One of the suspects, who all face prison terms of up to 20 years, committed suicide in Nevada before formal charges were laid.
