Rape ' Caught on Mobile Phone '

A WOMAN was raped by two men in a Brighton pub as others recorded the assault on their mobile phone cameras, the southern English city's local newspaper reported today.
The 27-year-old woman was celebrating a birthday with friends at the fashionable Toad at the Picture House pub when she was approached by two men, one of whom walked her into a cubicle in the men's toilet, The Argus reported.
Staff at the pub later found her collapsed on the floor, incoherent, semi-concious and partly clothed.
"Inquiries have established that other men - probably not connected with the two suspects - watched the rape, and it is believed some recorded it on their phones," a spokeswoman for Sussex Police was quoted as saying.
"Detectives want to trace any witnesses in the toilet or anyone who has knowledge of the incident," she said, adding that police had images from the pub's security cameras to help them identify suspects and witnesses.
The rape occurred on June 7, but details were only now being made public.
Cellphones fitted with digital cameras that can take both stills and videos are increasingly popular in Britain, and The Argus speculated that the men who witnessed the rape might have sent their images on to friends.
