Australian Charged Over Child Sex

BANGKOK: A retired Australian teacher has been charged with sex crimes in Thailand after a boy, 15, complained of being beaten and molested in the resort town of Pattaya.
The 67-year-old was arrested on Monday after police raided his apartment and found pornographic pictures of boys and videos, police Lieutenant-Colonel Suthep Ampan said.
He alleged the man, who was on bail for a 1997 count of sodomy, subsequently confessed to paying boys and giving them a place to stay in exchange for sex. He faces a minimum of five years in jail and deportation.
Police acted after a boy said the man had paid a "salary" of about $A190 to him and other youths to live in his apartment and provide sex.
Two Dutchmen and a Briton also were charged with sex offences yesterday.
