Sack Sex Abusers, Says Brindal

OUTSPOKEN former Liberal frontbencher Mark Brindal yesterday called on Premier Mike Rann to demand the resignation of anyone who had aided abusers, ignored victims or covered up child sexual abuse.
Mr Brindal said there were still people in senior echelons of government who had knowingly turned a blind eye to allegations of abuse. He repeated his calls for a major inquiry.
He circulated documents in Parliament detailing allegations of sexual abuse which he said were previously raised with Family and Youth Services but inadequately investigated.
The files make up the bulk of the documents Mr Brindal will submit to the Pedophile Taskforce, after Mr Rann last week called on him to take any information to the police.
Mr Brindal revealed yesterday that the officer in charge of the taskforce, Superintendent Grant Stevens, had contacted him to arrange a time for the files to be handed over.
