Suspect Escapes Arrest
A MAN linked with one of
Sydney's most exclusive
private schools has escaped the net of nation-
wide child pornography
arrests because the
courts refused to allow
police to search his home.
The man is one of at
least two Sydney men
who allegedly accessed
child pornography on the
internet.
It is believed late last
month a chamber magistrate refused applications for search warrants
for both men's homes.
The applications had
been prepared by New
South Wales' sex crimes
squad investigators as
part of strike force Auxin.
The magistrate found
there was not sufficient
reasonable belief that
child pornography would
be found inside the
school suspect's home.
The decision is believed to have angered
investigators intent on
clamping down on the
child pornography trade.
