Child Suicide Attempts

A QUEENSLAND foster care manager yesterday revealed how small children under state care had tried to kill themselves.
At Queensland's Crime and Misconduct Commission inquiry into abuse of children in foster care. Family Services officer Hilary Lennon broke down as she spoke about her crisis-torn department and also announced her resignation.
Ms Lennon said children in foster care had tried to commit suicide.
"Young children as young as four or five try to kill themselves by standing in the road, hanging themselves, overdosing, drinking detergent or jumping off balconies and bridges," she said.
