One Year Old Molested

SECURITY will be stepped up at Brisbane's South Bank in the wake of a sexual assault of a baby.
South Bank Corporation had decided to boost patrols by security officers while it conducted a review of security issues in the popular inner city parklands, Queensland Premier Peter Beattie said today. "Extra security have been contracted to patrol parkland areas, with some specifically contracted to monitor areas popular with children such as the beach, waterways and children's playground," he said.
"The added security will address any security issues in the short-term while the corporation initiates a process of extensive consultation that will establish what course of action is appropriate in the long term."
Mr Beattie ordered a review of South Bank security after a one-year-old boy was sexually assaulted on Streets Beach at South Bank on January 23, just metres from his mother.
Fears later emerged the area was a hotspot for pedophile activity after hundreds of clandestine photos of children, taken at South Bank and other popular Queensland swimming spots, were discovered on an Internet website.
South Bank is regarded as Brisbane's top tourist attraction, hosting more than nine million visitors annually..Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
