McGinty Shrugs Off Parole Protest.

PERTH: The four members of the WA Parole Board who resigned in the past month should have been able to accept greater political and public criticism of their performance, says Attorney-General Jim McGinty.
Chairman Henry Wallwork resigned at the end of November and board members Jane Thompson, Christabel Chamarette and Dr Neil Morgan have since followed.
Mr Wallwork told Mr McGinty he was upset at the lack of Government support of the parole board after the release of the Mahoney report into the WA justice system.
Ms Chamarette, a former Greens senator, said she could no longer serve on the board once she knew Mr Wallwork's resignation had been accepted. "The Government had an agenda to let the parole board continually be the scapegoat," she said.
Mr McGinty acknowledged that he had publicly criticised the parole board over some of its controversial decisions but said he had personally disagreed with them. "They should be big enough to accept that as a valid criticism," he said.
