Drink-Spiking Cases Prompt Alert

POLICE have renewed calls for pub-goers not to leave drinks unattended after confirmation that three people were victims of drink-spiking in South Australia's southeast during the holiday break.
Police said tests and investigations conducted by police found it was highly likely two Adelaide women and a man from Naracoorte had their drinks spiked.
The incidents occurred at the Beachport and Robe hotels between New Year's Eve and January 4.
"Two victims required medical attention, the third experienced nausea and vomiting but did not seek medical advice at that time," a police spokesman said.
"So police have again cautioned people about leaving drinks in hotels unattended or accepting drinks from persons they do not know."
However, the spokesman said investigations of another incident of drink-spiking at Beachport had shown that the symptoms experienced by a man in that case might have related to a previously unknown medical condition.
