An intellectually disabled teenager was raped in a Berwick public
garden on Christmas Eve.
An Attacker assaulted the 17-year-old girl in grassed area outside the
gardens, near the Princes Highway, before forcing her into
the park and raping her again.
Detectives investigating say the attack, at the Wilson Botanical Gardens,
happened between 7pm and 8pm on Saturday as the girl walked home.
The attacker fled when a jogger yelled out "oi" and then continued running.
Det Sen-Constable Andrew Smart of Narre Warren CIU said the jogger probably
did not realise the woman was being attacked and has
asked him to come forward.
He said the girl was extremely distressed.
"It's terrible", Det SenConsatble Smart said.
"It's horrific she has gone through this assult, especially on Christmas Eve."
He said the offender was desrcibed as being in his late teens, about 180cm, of skinny build and wearing a black top, red tie, black shorts and white runners.
