Sex Assaults Random Attack: Police

NEW South Wales police believe the sexual assault of two girls in a park near Newcastle was a random attack.
The young friends, aged 10 and 11, were playing at Elermore Park, at Elermore Vale, when they were approached by a man wielding a knife, about 2.15pm (AEST) yesterday.
The man forced the two girls into an isolated area of the park and sexually assaulted them, police said.
During the attack, one girl managed to run away and alert neighbours in a nearby house. The second girl ran away a short time later.
Detective Inspector David Waddell today said police did not believe the attack was linked to any other incidents in the area.
"We can't link anything else to it, so at this stage it's a one-off incident," he said.
"It's a general reminder for the community to be aware of persons lurking in public places and also for parents to remain vigilant as far as the whereabouts of their children go," he said.
The attacker is described as being possibly aged in his 30s, tall and of a medium build.
He could have short, black hair, dark-brown eyes, a large nose and light or olive complexion, and possibly be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance.
At the time, he was wearing a black jacket with pockets and dark tracksuit pants...Crime Stoppers-1800 333 000.
