Lingerie-clad Teens Given Free Drinks
TWO underage sisters dressed only in lingerie were hauled out of a bar by their
mother after allegedly being served free alcohol by bar staff.
The girls, aged 16 and 17, were enticed to sit on the veranda of the Ducks Nuts
pub in Darwin and "score" scantily dressed passers-by heading to the nearby Hookers' Ball, the woman said.
A relative of the girls saw them at the pub and telephoned their mum.
The woman, who was not named by the Northern Territory News, said both her
daughters were drunk.
She drove the girls home and the next day lodged a complaint with the Licensing
Commission.
Commission chairman Richard O'Sullivan said yesterday that he was suspending
the licence at Ducks Nuts for two days as punishment.
He said there were several damning factors in the case, including the potential
danger to the girls, who were given alcohol while dressed in lingerie and
in the company of older men.
The mother told the Licensing Commission the girls were "quite intoxicated".
One was "unsteady on her feet, her voice was slurred and her eyes were not focused".
Ducks Nuts licensee Ben O'Loughlin admitted the offences to the commission.
He argued that a licence suspension would cost the pub more than any fine if
the case went to court.
