MAKO- Community Notification - (WA)
On the 18-9-2003, A Current Affair(WA) Channel 9, aired a story (national)
regarding MAKO notifiying the Kalgoorlie community in WA, of convicted
paedophile,
STANLEY BROWN, who is living in Kalgoorlie and still
teaching piano to children from his home.
"We' re inciting parents to be vigilant. Not vigilantes".-
Kylie Newman (MAKO Inc)- on ACA
"I think the community has the right to know. It's not about his privacy or his
rights, it's about the communities rights".-
Browns Victim/ Survivor- on ACA
Robert Hicks(Kalgoorlie Boulder head
of the Australian Family Association
- Defending Brown/ Opposing MAKO).
"The rate of recividism (for paedophiles), in other words Re-offending is VERY, VERY high,
that's a FACT, we know that-but-"
(Thanks for the FACT Robert- MAKO)
That Fact is Reason/Proof enough that the Introduction of MANDATORY lengthy jail terms/National PUBLIC Register of Convicted Sex offenders to Australia is NEEDED and would greatly assist in protecting over 90% of Australians.
This would Clearly DETER Sex Offenders and PREVENT Victims..MAKO Inc.
-For the record- there are 30,000 people in Kalgoorlie-
Kalgoorlie residents interviewed on ACA-
ACA- "Now that you know are you glad that you know?"
Citizen 1- "Oh definitely, Yes"
ACA- " Does he deserve a second chance?"
Citizen 2- "No second chances, not with kids"
Acting Police Superintendant G. Maslin (Kalgoorlie Police WA)-
" He (Brown) has not re-offended for 9yrs- TO OUR KNOWLEDGE ".
( Did you know, many victims of sexual abuse are too young/traumatised/afraid/ashamed/groomed/blackmailed to
come forward , if at all . Many also don't come forward until they are adults themselves?- MAKO)
"It may encourage some sort of vigilante action, which is the last thing the Police Service want ". G.Maslin(WA Police)
(More victims of child sexual abuse should be the LAST thing wanted in these cases - MAKO).
(That was the 60th notification MAKO has done without any Vigilante action occuring.- MAKO)
Other interesting details..
At first Brown refused the interview which raises the question was Brown
paid for the interview by ACA or did he just have a change of heart?
We asked ACA and were told: No way would they pay a convicted paedophile for an interview
(lets hope not.)
(For the record: MAKO did not receive a cent for this story/100% of all donations go towards preventing/helping victims of sexual abuse/assault.)
The Kalgoorlie Miner Newspaper has written numerous articles regarding
MAKO's activities. Despite us contacting them we are yet to be contacted for a comment.
To the Editor of the Kalgoorlie Miner we can only say, GIve Us A Call...........0419 762 286.
To Every Parent
"Would you leave your child alone with a Convicted Paedophile ?"
"If your child was molested, would you want the offender to have access to more children? ".
"Don't be Fooled - just because he is old, doesn't mean he can't molest children,
it just means he won't get as much punishment if he gets caught."
"Why shouldn't the Government/ Parole board be liable to a lawsuit
if they let a sex offender out of jail, secretly into Australian communities
and they re-offend? -Someone signs the release papers knowing
they may re-offend"- MAKO Inc
Thanks goes to A CURRENT AFFAIR (WA) for the national coverage,
and all the victims of sexual abuse/assault this Awareness will prevent
around Australia....MAKO Inc.
