Call for inquiry into convicted killer's escape from hospital

South Australia police say there has still been no sign of convicted killer Rene Wilson-Bosman who absconded from the Glenside Hospital last Wednesday.
Today the Opposition is calling for an independent investigation into his escape, saying it has found five breaches of procedure.
SA Opposition Health spokesman Dean Brown wants to know why security surrounding him was not increased after an incident with another patient last Sunday.
He is also concerned the Parole Board was not told of an adverse psychiatric assessment the day before he escaped.
"I have a concern that certainly the patients who are in this sort of circumstance are at risk of self harm and there is always the potential that there may be some danger to the broader public - I hope not," Mr Brown said.

Convicted killer escapes Adelaide psychiatric hospital

Police have received numerous reports of sightings of a convicted killer who escaped an Adelaide psychiatric hospital.
However, none of the sightings had been confirmed by police, a police spokeswoman said today.
Rene Wilson-Bosman, 22, had been ordered to reside at the Glenside Hospital as a condition of his parole for a manslaughter conviction, which started in November 2001.
However, he walked out of the hospital on Wednesday night and has not been seen since.
Parole board spokeswoman Frances Nelson said Wilson-Bosman had not taken his medication with him when he left the hospital.
"There is a serious concern that Wilson-Bosman suffers from schizophrenia and may be in a psychotic state," she said.
"Any person sighting Wilson-Bosman should notify the police immediately and should not approach him as he may be dangerous."
Ms Nelson said Wilson-Bosman had been under the supervision of mental health services staff at the hospital and had given no indication that he planned to escape.
He is described as Caucasian with blue eyes, a shaved head, weighing 90kg and of strong, muscular build.
Police today reiterated warnings Wilson-Bosman should not be approached and any sightings of him should be immediately reported to police.
