Evil Child Rapist's Taunts Sentence Before Court and Family
A SERIAL rapist has taunted police and a victim's family, yelling that he
would do his 12-year jail sentence standing on his head.
The County Court heard Sedat Avci had shown some insight and empathy for
his eight-year-old victim, but after the sentence he rushed forward in the dock,
confronting the young girl's sister and her supporters.
One of the women responded by shouting back: "You rape little girls."
Avci, 22, called investigating police "f---ing dogs" and hurled a cup of water
at a female detective.
As court security stepped in the sex predator tapped the top of his head and
yelled: "I will do 12 years on my head."
Avci was yesterday jailed over an attack on the young girl in 2004 when she was
riding her bike home from a park.
The court heard Avci asked for directions to a nearby school where he pulled
the girl from her bike and sexually assaulted her.
It was not until last year that DNA found on her clothes was tested and matched to Avci.
The little girl wrote a heart-rending victim impact statement to the court.
"I want the judge and that thing that calls himself a person to know this: he
ruined my whole life," the girl wrote.
"I was always a happy girl, but since he attacked me I haven't been the same.
"If I could say something to him I would want him to know: how can you have such
a sick mind to do that to girls knowing that girls can't fight back against stronger men?"
The girl's mother said she was tormented by "what that predator did".
"She was eight years old for Christ's sake. How could he do this to her and then
my child comes home and she is telling me she is sorry, like it was her fault," the woman said.
"That bastard took from me my little girl and I can't get her back."
Avci pleaded guilty to committing an indecent act on a child under 16.
Avci was dubbed the northern suburbs rapist over his terrifying attacks on six women
walking alone at night in the street in 2005.
The Court of Appeal last week increased his sentence over those rapes and indecent
assaults to 16 years with a minimum of 11 years.
Judge Douglas sentenced Avci to three years' jail with a one-year minimum on top of
his earlier sentence, making a new non-parole term of 12 years.
