Teen model Stalk Horror
A CONFESSED pedophile stalked a 14-
year-old schoolboy
and threatened the
boy's family over the
Internet, a court
heard yesterday.
Melbourne Magistrates'
Court was told Paul Edward Vose, 30,
was besotted with the schoolboy.
who featured as a model
in advertising catalogues.
Det-Sgt Wayne Harvey
told the court Vose
photographed the boy
playing sport at his private school and installed
listening devices in his
home and the change
rooms at school.
In what is believed to be
Victoria's first Internet -
related stalking charge.
the court heard Vose also
attended the church
where the boy sang as a
choirboy and followed
him home from school.
Det-Sgl Harvey told the
court Vose broke into the
boy's home and stole
items to compile a dossier
on every member of his
family, including bank account and credit card
numbers and silent and
mobile phone numbers.
Det-Sgt Harvey said
Vose sent the boy's stepfather a
letter with instructions how to access
an Internet Web site called "Earthling's Lovable
Lads".
The Web site contained
18 images of the boy,
including pictures taken
from the catalogues and
surveillance photos snapped over years.
This little boy has captivated my heart a great
deal. He is the best-
looking boy I know." he
wrote.
Det-Sgt Harvey said the
site was linked to another
Web site called "Earthling's Opinion Page",
which promoted pedophile activities and
fantasies. He admitted his
fantasy and obsession revolving
around the burglary for the purpose of
abducting, torturing and
raping the male child occupants," he said.
On the Web site, Vose
allegedly confessed that
at 13 he fell in love with a
seven-year-old boy and
was jealous of heterosexual relationships, even
those on television.
Vose said he had "wanted to do exactly the same
sort of thing to a little
boy" for half his life and
was annoyed that it was
illegal.
"It is not appropriate for
the government or society
to tell me who I can and
cannot love or the most
fitting way in which I can
love," he wrote, "Special
laws to protect children
are not necessary."
Vose also posted on the
Web site that "Revenge is
righteous" and threatened
violence if prevented from
carrying out his fantasy.
"The day I get caught
having sex with a child ...
I go to war with the world
around me - starting with
the government and the
police and anyone else stupid enough to get in my
way,"' he wrote.
Det-Sgt Harvey said
Vose stalked the boy almost daily in a pattern
that worsened over time.
"The defendant .. was
totally obsessed with the
boy and has shown a determination to track the
boy that I've never seen
before," he said.
Vose, of Rosella St, Murrumbeena, faces charges
of stalking from February
1997 to June this year.
Defence lawyer Shane
Gardener told the court a
psychiatrist found Vose
had no real insight into his
offences and did not appreciate their effect on the
victims.
Deputy Chief Magistrate
Patrick Street refused
Vose bail and remanded
him in custody to appear
in court on October 2.

Paedophile Accused Of Stalking Boy, 13
A man who had stalked a boy for more than a year had hand-delivered a
letter to the 13-year-old's parent's, giving details of a web site
showing photographs of the boy, a court was told yesterday.
Detective Sergeant Wayne Harvey of the child exploitation squad told the
Melbourne Magistrates Court the man had conducted intensive surveilance
of the boy, using cameras and listening devices, and had compiled
dossiers on every member of the boy's family.
Mr Paul Edward Vose, 30, of Murrumbeena, faces four counts of stalking
between February 1997 and June 1998.
Sergaent Harvey alleged that Mr Vose had admitted his love for young boys on
the Internet web page.
"It is not appropriate for the government or society to tell
me who I can and cannot love or the most fitting way in which I can
love," Mr Vose allegedly wrote.
He allegedly wrote that laws were not necessary to protect children
and said he would "go to war" with anyone who tried to prevent him
having sex with a child.
Sergaent Harvey told the court that Mr Vose had spent time watching
the boy at choir practice and twice approached the boy when he was
on his way home from school.
Mr Vose stole personal items from the garbage, documents from inside the boy's
family home and learnt mobile phone and silent numbers, credit card and bank
account numbers, he said.
The magistrate, Pat Street, said Mr Vose posed an unacceptable risk
to the community and refused bail.
Mr Vose was remanded to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates
Court on 2 October.
